I would put it alongside <i>Y tu mamá también</i> on my top-ten list of oughties movies in any language.Others which may or may not be top-ten material but which I enjoyed:<i><a href="http://www.metacritic.com/video/titles/ninequeens" rel="nofollow">Nueve reinas</a></i> (Nine Queens), 2000, an excellent caper movie set in Buenos Aires by the late Fabián Bielinsky. I also liked his 2005 psychological thriller <i><a href="http://www.metacritic.com/film/titles/aura?q=el%20aura" rel="nofollow">El aura</a></i>.<i><a href="http://www.metacritic.com/film/titles/timecrimes" rel="nofollow">Los cronocrímenes</a></i> (Time Crimes), 2007, a time-travel mystery from Spain that will tie your brain up in knots.<i><a href="http://www.metacritic.com/video/titles/lacienaga" rel="nofollow">La ciénaga</a></i>, 2001, surely one of the most beautifully depressing movies I've ever seen, about a family of alcoholics and worse in the racially charged provincial North of Argentina.<i><a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0267490/" rel="nofollow">Felicidades</a></i>, 2000, a charming small film from Argentina about people trying to get home for Christmas.If I wanted to cheat I could list <i><a href="http://www.metacritic.com/video/titles/solocontupareja" rel="nofollow">Sólo con tu pareja</a></i>, Alfonso Cuarón's delightful sex-comedy precursor to <i>Y tu mamá también</i>, because it was released in gringolándia in 2006 even though it was made in 1991.
