About Us
Lenguajero is a free online language exchange community where people come together to practice Spanish and English. Lenguajero connects language learners so that they can improve their ability to speak, listen, read, write, and think critically and creatively in a new language.
Lenguajero was founded by two English speakers living in Colombia learning Spanish. We recognized how important having conversations was in our own learning process, and were shocked to discover that there was no community on the web for Spanish and English learners to meet and have conversation exchanges with one another.
With Lenguajero you can:
- Improve your ability to speak and listen in a new language
- Practice writing in your learning language, and get instant feedback from native speakers
- Learn about other cultures
- Connect with other users using video, voice, and text chat
Who We Are
Natalie Gordon – Co-Founder and All Things Technical ![]()
Natalie graduated from the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor of Mathematics in Computer Science. Before co-founding Lenguajero, Natalie worked for Amazon.com for four years where she built highly scalable systems. After graduating, Natalie traveled through Mexico and Guatemala where she discovered that despite taking a year of Spanish at university she had no clue what anyone was saying to her. Five years later and after countless lessons, conversations, and friendships she is still prone to calling sheep (ovejas) brooms (escobas) when playing Settlers of Catan.
August Flanagan – Co-Founder and All Things Operational
A science nerd at heart, August graduated from the University of Washington with a BS in Biochemistry. After graduating he was awarded a Bonderman Fellowship which allowed him to begin his Spanish learning odyssey by traveling through Central America. Before continuing his global escapades he worked as a Project Manager for eComponents Techonology on a team developing greenhouse gas reporting software. His dueling passions of Environmental Science and Traveling are chronicled on his blogs: The Green Technocrat and The Wandering and Wondering of August Flanagan.
